Home Addition Specialist, Proudly Serving San Diego County Since 1965
Sometimes the only way to add more space to your home is to go out the front. This is an exciting opportunity to transform the entrance of your home. You can consider a complete facelift or just an update of what you love about your home.
Ritz Design Build will help you make the addition, whether it’s a small change, a second story, or a total home remodel. In the event you desire a complete transformation, it will be joyful to add courtyards, decking, awnings and many other desirable accents to suit your particular taste. We’ll work with you to create the look and feel you desire, but still keep within budget.
Over the years, we’ve worked in many San Diego neighborhoods and chances are, we’ve worked on a residence in your neighborhood. We strongly suggest you drive around your neighborhood and really take note of the additions your neighbors have made to the front of their homes. Go ahead, take pictures and bring them to our design session. You can also use this as a time to record what not to do. (And you’ll discover that most additions make a home look worse, they should have called Ritz Design Build!)
At our input session, we’ll ask you what you need in an addition and what you like and don’t like. We’ll incorporate your wishes and make some suggestions on how to best achieve your desires. These are some of the design principles we keep in mind:
Ask what is missing. What is your home missing? Is it a sense of hospitality? Is it an element of an entryway? Of course, when you’re looking to make additions, you should consider the style of your home. Is it a ranch or craftsman or modern? And we’ll check the materials under the siding—you never know what the previous owners did.
How do the old and new meet? We’ll be very aware of how new and old materials mix together so they create a seamless appearance.
Don’t go halfway. We always try to reflect the existing detailing in the front house with the new addition. If a new material is used, then we try to mimic the same shape and proportions.
When you’re remodeling the front of your home, you might want to add a porch to really create curb appeal. And we’re talking a porch in the old fashioned sense: a seat for you and a seat for a friend. What better place to enjoy your morning coffee and the paper. A front porch is a wonderful way to invite people to stop and chat.
A second story addition is one of the biggest changes you can make to a home. Give Ritz Design Build a call and we’ll create a second story that gives you more room and adds to the beauty of your home, all while bringing you the greatest value for your dollar.
